Waste audit

A structured assessment of what you actually produce

GreenMar waste audit: recording and mapping waste streams at an industrial site in Tangier

A waste audit is a systematic, structured assessment of the waste your site produces. It answers three simple questions that few industrial sites can settle precisely: what exactly do we produce, where, and at what real cost?

GreenMar identifies the sources of waste, helps you develop management and reduction measures, brings costs down, improves operational efficiency and confirms your site’s regulatory compliance.

The cheapest tonne is the one you never produce

Before optimising a collection contract, you need to know what actually leaves your workshops. An audit turns intuition into usable data, and data into a costed action plan.

What it changes for you

A clear view of your streams

Every stream identified, quantified and traced back to the workshop that produces it. No more rough estimates in budget meetings.

Savings identified and costed

Reduction at source, better segregation, a change of treatment route: each option is assessed for potential gain before you commit.

Compliance checked before the inspection

Gaps are found and closed calmly, rather than discovered on the day of an inspection or a customer audit.

A file ready for your clients

Figures, procedures and records consolidated into a single document you can put straight in front of an auditor.

What the audit covers

  • On-site survey workshop by workshop, identifying where waste comes from
  • Quantification and mapping of the streams produced
  • Review of current segregation, storage and collection practice
  • Document review: collection notes, register, contracts
  • Identification of regulatory compliance gaps
  • A prioritised, costed reduction and optimisation plan
  • Support with implementation and training your teams on segregation

Typical situations

Waste budget drifting

The invoice is rising with no clear explanation. The audit isolates the streams responsible and separates what comes from volume, poor segregation or the contract itself.

Customer or parent-company audit announced

An international client asks for an environmental status report. The audit produces the file they expect and closes the gaps beforehand.

New site or new line

The process changes and generates unfamiliar streams. The audit sizes containers, frequencies and treatment routes before production ramps up.

Internal reduction target

A reduction target has been set for the year. The audit provides the baseline and the levers available in each workshop.

Method

Our method

  1. Scoping

Defining the perimeter, the workshops involved and the objectives, with your QHSE manager.

  2. On-site survey

Observing workstations, weighing and quantifying by stream, interviewing operators and reviewing documents.

  3. Analysis and findings

Mapping the streams, calculating the real cost of each, and recording compliance gaps.

  4. Report and plan

Presenting the report, a prioritised and costed action plan, then support with rollout if you want it.

Frequently asked questions

Waste audit : vos questions

How long does a waste audit take?

It depends on the size of the site and the number of workshops involved. The on-site survey usually runs over one to several days, followed by an analysis phase. The exact duration is set out in the proposal, after a first visit.

Do we need to be a GreenMar customer to request an audit?

No. The waste audit is a standalone service. It can be carried out independently of any collection contract, including if you currently work with other contractors.

Does the audit cover regulatory compliance?

Yes. The document review and on-site survey are designed in part to identify gaps against Moroccan waste management and disposal regulations, so they can be closed before any inspection.

What happens after the report is delivered?

You have a prioritised action plan your teams can roll out themselves. GreenMar can also support the implementation: containers, signage, segregation training and tracking of the indicators.
